Jessi’s Journey

to earn the title Certified Athletic Therapist

Education

Jessi took her Bachelor’s Degree of Athletic and Exercise Therapy through a specialized four year program at Camosun College in Victoria BC. She earned the right to the title Certified Athletic Therapist after successful completion of the licensing exam. This included a lengthy multiple choice written exam and four 20 minute practical exams: emergency conditions, sideline assessment, clinical assessment, and clinical rehabilitation. Prior to her graduation she completed 1200+ hours of practical experience with a diverse range of sports teams, clinics and sawmills between Courtenay and Victoria. The time in the field with a variety of team sports, contact sports and individual sports made the knowledge from the classroom lessons come alive early on. The clinical hours spent working alongside Certified Athletic Therapists, Chiropractics, Physiotherapists, Kinesiologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Massage Therapists provided a foundation of clinical practices. The ergonomic assessment workplace visits in sawmills built a passion for the industrial and recreational athlete.
